WARM MAPLE DATE MUESLI
There’s no reason muesli should always be eaten cold, and the great thing about Marge Multi-Grain Muesli is it’s already loaded with nuts and seeds so you can think of it as a ready-to-cook deluxe oatmeal. Here we’ve folded in naturally sweet dates and currants along with just a kiss of maple syrup to make for a nutritious and satisfying way to start the day. Don’t like dates? Feel free to use use chopped dried apricots, cherries or apples instead. And if you’re feeling like getting ahead of the game, make a double (or triple) batch as this warm muesli keeps just fine in the refrigerator and reheats beautifully.

One of the tricks to making this addictive warm cereal is toasting the grains in a little butter before cooking them down with the milk. Trust us on this one: you don’t want to skip this step. Toasting them first helps draw out their naturally nutty flavor … and makes the house smell like a dream. Enjoy!
Serves: 2
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3/4 cup Marge Multi-Grain Muesli
3/4 cup milk (or soy / nut milk), plus more to thin if desired
1 teaspoon maple syrup, plus more to top (optional)
1/4 cup chopped dried dates
3 tablespoons currants
Maple syrup, to top

In a small saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the muesli. Stir to coat the grains in the butter and allow to toast on low heat until fragrant, about 3 minutes. Add the milk, maple syrup, dried dates and currants and simmer on low until the muesli soaks up most of the liquid, about 3-4 minutes. If you’d like your warm muesli looser or thinner, simply add a bit more milk (or water) and stir to combine. Top with maple syrup and serve warm.
